Created five years ago, the energetic Amazing Keystone Big Band expresses the spirit and soul of the great formations of the swing era, as well as the creativity, openness, and bold virtuosity of today's jazz.
Collaborators since they attended the Conservatoire de Paris together, pianist Fred Nardin, saxophonist Jon Boutellier, trombonist Bastien Ballaz, and trumpet player David Enhco provide direction and arrangements for the band.
The seventeen talents giving life to this turbulent jazz machine don’t only pledge allegiance, with class, to Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Thad Jones. More than anything, they consider this band, made of handpicked friends, to be a way of experimenting with new ideas while revisiting the treasures of a solid repertoire.
The Amazing Keystone Big Band keeps this music alive while giving free rein to the creativity of its musicians and their arrangements, compositions, and solos.
Since 2010, the band has collaborated with and written music for many internationally acclaimed artists, such as Quincy Jones, James Carter, Rhoda Scott, Stochelo Rosenberg, Liz McComb, Michel Hausser, Bill Mobley, Cécile McLorin Salvant, and Zaz.
